About Me

I'm a mom. I have 2 sons: Drew, who is my favorite, and Nick, who is also my favorite. My husband, Andy, is a police officer. I take lots of pictures, and I like to think that they're good. I scrapbook. Oh, and I also work full time in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory. Currently my biggest desire is to find land available and build a house far out in the country, no neighbors nearby, with space for a herd of cattle and a big veggie garden.

Sometimes I'm caught totally off guard
From the kitchen I hear Drew say "Mom, what color is Callie's collar?" Callie is a puppy that stayed at our house for a few hours the other night, and Drew is drawing a picture of her. Then he says "How do you spell Callie?". "C-A-L-L-I-E" I holler from the other room. I'm folding laundry and don't come into the kitchen for a few minutes. This is what I'm greeted with when I walk out there:

All by himself, Drew has drawn a picture of Callie, written her name, and signed his name. Oh my. I didn't realize he had learned quite so much...

And, thanks to Callie, there are no more monsters scaring Nick in the night. For a week now there have been monsters tormenting him, waking him (and me) up several times each night. But while Callie was here, she chased them away and they haven't been back. Good dog!

And now I must sign off. Nick is yelling "Mom, watch this" from the other room. I think I've heard that phrase a million times in the past hour! I guess I had better go and watch.

Sometimes they love each other
Look at them, sitting together in the chair, nicely watching cartoons and looking at a toy catalog. This was last night. It was a good night.

Tonight, they're at each other's throats. Fighting over the very things you see them sharing in the picture. They're in the other room with their daddy right now, both boys are crying and he's quickly losing his patience. And so am I.

Why is that? We have 2 of almost every toy. And we have LOTS of toys. Lots of really nice toys. Why must they fight over 1 cheap plastic happy meal toy? It drives me insane.

People tell me that when they're older, when they're grown and gone, that I will miss all of this. Is that really true? Will I miss ALL of it, or just the moments you're witnessing here? Posted by Picasa

Drew and Nick

Ok, the title of this blog is Life's Little Adventures. Really, it's about MY little adventures. Meet Drew (the one jumping) and Nick. Some of you probably already know them. Drew is 4, and Nick is 2. They are the light of my life, and the 2 people on this planet who have the ability to make me doubt myself and the decisions I make on a day to day basis.

I thought it might be interesting to chronicle our days and adventures, and to be able to share the mundane stuff with friends and family.

Sit back and enjoy the ride...
